Louis Esbin

Louis J. Esbin founded his law firm and has been practicing in Santa Clarita, California and Canyon Country, Valencia, Saugus, Stevenson Ranch, Newhall and Castaic neighborhoods since 1993, where he provides Bankruptcy Law, Corporate Formation Law, Transactional Law, Merger & Acquisition Law, and Commercial Law services to clients throughout California and other states.

Mr. Esbin currently represents a diverse group of corporate and individual clients including small emerging businesses, corporations and individuals, as debtors and creditors, as well as clients who operate in the restaurant, construction, entertainment, retail, casino, real estate, and manufacturing industries, distressed debt traders, and mortgage bankers.

His experience in Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York, and as a judicial law clerk to Bankruptcy Court Judges in Northern and Southern California are the cornerstones of his pledge to provide high quality "Big City" legal services to his community and clients. Mr. Esbin counsels his clients on approaching their matters with a practical cost-benefit analysis.

Mr. Esbin is also the founding Treasurer of the Santa Clarita Valley Bar Association; a founding member of the Central District Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys Association; a member of the Santa Clarita Valley Rotary Club in which he has served as Vocational and Membership Chair, as well as Club Secretary. Mr. Esbin is also a member of the Financial Lawyers Conference and California Bankruptcy Forum. As the first law clerk to the Honorable Samuel Bufford of the Central District Bankruptcy Court, Mr. Esbin formulated the local rules on Chapter 13 practice adopted throughout the District. Following the 1994 Northridge Earthquake, Mr. Esbin volunteered through the FEMA to provide legal consultation to his community.

Mr. Esbin has a degree in Finance and Accounting from Albany State (SUNY Albany). He is admitted to practice by the state of California and the state of Connecticut, and has been admitted to practice specially in courts in Nevada, Texas, Florida and Colorado. He is awaiting admission to the State Bar of New York.

    Senior Associate, Rosen, Wachtell & Gilbert (defunct). As Bankruptcy Attorney for San Francisco Office of a Century City Law Firm, represented Bay Area businesses and Southern California clients. Chairperson, S.F. Bar Association Subcommittee on Professional Employment and Compensation under United States Trustee Program; associate editor for California Bankruptcy Journal.

Court calendar management function. Drafted first General Order on Chapter 13 Practice, later adopted as Local Rule, and also, later adopted by other districts as a model for courts throughout the Ninth Circuit.
